A Federal Pell Grant is to college students based on financial need. Full-time and part-time students are eligible. In fact, the Federal Pell Grants do not need a minimal grade point average and other academic demands.
When you get your Pell Grants, your college will credit your educational account or pay you directly.
The Federal Pell Grant eligibility:
1) college students should be American Citizens;
2) students should have a GED or high school diploma;
3) students should be pursuing the first undergrad degree;
4) students that are male should enroll with the Selective Service;
5) college students can receive one Federal Pell Grant per year only;
6) students who are qualified for Federal Pell Grants can be qualified for FSEOG (Federal Supplemental Education Opportunity Grants).
Pell Grant amount:
1. The amount, which students get is based on their personal financial need as well as school expenses.
2. Amounts depend on whether a student will attend full-time or part-time.
3. Grants are restricted to the financing allotted by the Congress. Amounts will vary between $400 to $4,050 for this year.
4. As assured by the federal government, every college will get enough money to award Pell Grants for each eligible student.
Applying for the Federal Pell Grants:
1) Students may apply for the Federal Pell Grants at their college’s financial help office.
2) To apply, college students must complete FAFSA (Free Application for Federal Student Aid). The application will define their level of eligibility as well as award amount based upon financial need.
3) Students will get the results of such an application within several weeks.
